Iga Swiatek v Misaki Doi Head to Head

Swiatek Unleashes Another Solid Showing

A French Open champion as a teenager, and Swiatek is now looking to continue her run towards turning into a force to reckon with on hard court surfaces as well. After a disappointing start at the Gipplsland Trophy, which was her first tournament of the season, Swiatek then proceeded to make it to the fourth round of the Australian Open where she fell in three sets against Simona Halep.

Since then, however, Swiatek has upped the ante and how.

At the Adelaide International, she raced off to the final in fine style, defeating the likes of Madison Brengle, Maddison Inglis, Danielle Collins and Jil Teichmann without even breaking into a sweat – losing seven games at the most in a match.

And she then routed Belinda Bencic in the final, registering a 6-2, 6-2 win to lift her second career WTA title.

The Polish player will now hope to continue with that winning run in a far more difficult field but starts off with an easy opener after a first round bye.

Qualifier Doi Gets Past Hercog

Three times in a row now Doi has qualified for the main draws of tournaments as a lucky loser – that must be some sort of a record for sure! And what’s made things even more interesting is Doi has then proceeded to win the first round of those competitions each time as well.

This streak started in Adelaide, where she qualified for the main draw after going down to Ludmilla Samsonova in the qualifiers, defeated Ana Blinkova before losing to Belinda Bencic. A loss to Jessica Pegula in the Doha qualifiers was on expected lines given the latter’s form, but she then defeated Saisai Zheng in her opener and lost to Elina Svitolina in the second round.

And here she was a shock loser to En Shou Liang in her qualifier, but overcame Polona Hercog in three sets in the first round.

Unfortunately for her, for the third time in a row, Doi now faces a top-20 player and that can only mean one thing – possibly another stinging loss.

Swiatek v Doi Prediction and Tip

This looks to be an easy one for Swiatek with a straight-set win (2/9 with bet365) a solid possibility. Swiatek hasn’t lost a set in her last eight wins, and only twice have there been instances of more than 17 games in those wins.

Tip: Under 17.5 games in the match: 5/6 (bet365)
