Aljaz Bedene v Lorenzo Giustino Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour.

Bedene, Starts with a Win

World No. 59 Aljaz Bedene started his campaign in Dubai with a three-set win over the Indian Yuki Bhambri. Bedene won the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to set up the clash with the 163rd ranked Italian on Tuesday.

So far this season, the Slovenian has managed to move past the second round only once – it was in the ATP 250 Adelaide where he reached the third round before losing to Jannik Sinner. After that, he lost to Alexander Bublik in the Australian Open in the first round.

His last event was in Montpellier where he lost in round two to Egor Gerasimov.

Bedene is looking to reach his first singles final since the 2019 ATP Moselle – back then, he lost in the final to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. As for his last season, it was more or less along the same lines of uneventful results and performances. Once again, he never made it past the third round in any of the events he played in.

Giustino, in His Maiden ATP Event of the Year

Lorenzo Giustino is a player who has mainly confined himself to the depths of the Challenger circuits. Not many people may have heard of him, simply because he has never made any significant leaps in the singles ranking. Over the last few seasons, he has mainly hovered between the 100s and 200s.

The 29-year-old, however, now finds himself on the cusp of changing it all soon.

Despite losing in the final qualifying round in Dubai, he got into the main draw – a direct ticket into the second round on the back of Lucky Loser rule and the withdrawal of Borna Coric (whom the Italian replaced).

A win here will bring him closer to a top 100 debut and some fame with it. However, he has his task cut out for him. With the exception of the Australian Open, Giustino has mainly played in Challenger events but did not do well in either of them. Barring his run in Biella, Italy, where he reached the quarterfinal, he has lost in the early rounds in all the tournaments so far.

Bedene vs Giustino Prediction and Tip

Expect Bedene to win this match comfortably. He is aeons ahead in terms of form and experience when compared to his Italian adversary.

Tip: Bedene to win 2-0: 4/6 (bet365)
