Barbora Krejcikova v Anna Blinkova Head to Head

The pair have met once before, on clay, in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 2019. Krejcikova winning that match in straight sets for the loss of just two games.

Krejcikova Breaks into Top 40

Although Krejcikova has been better known as a doubles player up to this point, reaching the final of the women’s doubles with her long-time partner Katerina Siniakova, and winning the Mixed title in Melbourne , she is now enjoying success on the singles’ court as well, and is now an all-time high in the rankings, having broken into the top 40 for the first time in her career.

That run began inauspiciously after she failed to qualify in Doha, but she more than made up for that disappointment in Dubai the following week. She got all the way to the final eventually losing to the world 13, Garbine Muguruza.

But she gave a good account of herself against the Spaniard, only losing the first set on a tie-break, and pushing Muguruza hard in the second before eventually succumbing.

She has taken a week off since then to recharge her batteries.

Blinkova Scratching for Form in 2021

This is Binkova’s first appearance in the main draw in Miami – she failed to qualify the last time the tournament was played in 2019.

However, she does not come into the event in any sort of form, after a poor sequence of results in 2021 to date.

She was knocked out in the first round of the Australian Open by compatriot Varvara Gracheva, and then lost at the same stage in Adelaide to the Japanese woman Misaki Doi.

She did, though, come through the qualifying competition to make the main draw in Doha, only to then lose in straight sets to Ons Jabeur.

Nor did she enjoy better fortune during her stay in Mexico, losing at the first round stage again in both Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Krejcikova v Blinkova Prediction and Tip

Krejcikova is in form, Blinkova is not. That, in itself, tips the scales in favour of the Czech, but where their only previous meeting is added into the equation as well, she is the clear favourite to win this match.

Tip: Krejcikova to win: 2/5 (bet365)
