David Goffin v Pierre-Hugues Herbert Head to Head
There have been six previous matches between these two and all of them have been played outside of clay. Goffin has won all six.
In their latest meeting that came in January of this year, Goffin needed three sets to get past Herbert in the first round of the Antalya Open.

Goffin had a lot at stake when he kick-started his clay court court campaign last week having not won a match on this surface the French Open of 2019. He had, in fact, entered the competition on the back of a three-match losing streak on dirt that dated back to May 2019.
But the 2018 semifinalist at this tournament, has started off brilliantly on clay this year.
At the Monte-Carlo Masters last week he put to bed all of the question-marks around his form as he defeated Marin Cilic and Marco Cecchinato and then shocked Alexander Zverev to make it to the quarterfinals.
And while he lost to Dan Evans in that last eight encounter, Goffin had already done enough to show he is back on this surface.
The Belgian has already had a couple of decent tournament results outside of clay this season, having reached the semifinal of the Antalya Open and then followed that up with a title win in Montpellier.

Herbert Heaves Relief with Nagal Win
The world number 78 Herbert was playing someone who was nearly 60 places behind him but such has been the Frenchman’s form and his record on clay that the bookmakers found it tough to pick a winner.
Which is why while he was pushed hard in the first set, Herbert would be relieved with his 7-5, 6-0 win over Sumit Nagal of India. This win came after Herbert had fallen in the very first qualifying round at the Monte-Carlo Masters to Bernard Tomic.
That had been a shock result given the lack of tennis Tomic has played in a while, even forcing bookmakers to have him at 3/1 to win that match. Herbert had lost it in straight sets.
Now comes a bigger test for Herbert, on a surface where he has not even won a Challenger title. Will be a difficult one for the Frenchman.

Goffin should take this one easily, probably even in straight sets given his own solid form and his opponent’s struggles recently.
