Dusan Lajovic v Federico Delbonis Head to Head

Across the ATP circuit, qualifying rounds and the Challengers, these two have faced off seven times and surprisingly, Delbonis leads 5-2. At the highest level, there have been three matches, and Lajovic leads 2-1 while on clay it is 2-1 in favour of Delbonis.

Lajovic Hoping to Overturn Poor Form

It has not been the kind of year Serbia’s Lajovic would have been hoping for as he has lost nine of his 15 matches on tour this season. This included a shock defeat at the hands of Dan Evans in his first match on clay for the year which came at the Monte Carlo Masters last week, as Lajovic went down fighting in three sets.

The world number 37 who had won his maiden – and only – title on the clay courts of Umag in 2019, had earlier lost five of his previous eight matches on hard court surfaces this season as well thanks to a dismal run of form.

Earlier, he had gone down in both his singles matches at the ATP Cup with Lajovic’s only solid showing coming at the Australian Open where reached fourth round before falling to Alexander Zverev.

The big question is if he can turn things around here or will his cup of woes continue to overflow. The signs haven’t been encouraging so far.

Delbonis Claims Berankis Scalp

A clay court specialist who has played all but two of the matches this season on clay, Delbonis kick-started his campaign here in Belgrade with a fighting win over Ricardas Berankis in round one. He took down Berankis 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in a match lasting over two hours to reach the second round.

Only one break of serve separated Delbonis and his opponent in the first set, but Berankis fought back to go 3-0 up in the second set before wrapping it up by continuing to hold on to that early decisive break.

It was in the third set which took Delbonis through, but even that saw an early exchange of breaks. However, a third successive break broke the dam as Delbonis ran away with three successive breaks and an easy win in the final set.

Delbonis had earlier made it to round two of the Monte-Carlo Masters as a qualifier and was a losing semifinalist at the Santiago Open too.

And here, he will hold the aces against the struggling Lajovic.

Lajovic v Delbonis Prediction and Tip

Lajovic is a favourite at 8/11 but we will be tipping Delbonis to take the advantage of his strong form and win this in three..

Tip: Delbonis to win: 11/10 (bet365)
