Matteo Berrettini v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

The pair have met only once before on the ATP tour and it was the Italian Berrettini, who came back from a set down to beat Krajinovic on the clay courts of Hungary in 2019.

Berrettini Hoping to Overturn Poor Clay Form

Former World No. 8 Berrettini is an aggressive all-court player known for his booming serve and ferocious forehand. The Italian’s main weapon is his powerful forehand, which is known for its immense speed, spin and depth.

Berrettini believes in finishing off points rather quickly and loves to hit winners with his aggressive brand of tennis. Moreover, his net game plays an integral part in his game as he employs the serve-and-volley tactic to surprise his rivals during a match.

Berrettini, who is often been compared with former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro because of his big serves and a dangerous forehand, failed to find any sort of form on the clay courts of Monte Carlo last week. In fact, he failed to cross the first hurdle as he lost to Alejandro Davidovichin in straight sets in the opening round.

But, the Italian, did find his form in Serbia as he earned a big win over former French Open semifinalist Marco Cecchinato in Round 1. With a place in the last 4 on the line, he would look to repeat his performance in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Can Krajinovic Continue His Good Run on Clay?

For a spot in the semis, Berrettini would be up against Filip Krajinovic of Croatia. Krajinovic, who has quickly risen to No. 33 in the official ATP rankings, performed really well in Monte Carlo as he made it through to the third round. In Belgrade this week, Krajinovic has done exceptionally well to still be in the tournament.

Indeed, he was all set to bow out of the tournament in the first round, when he was put under immense pressure by Italy’s Stefano Travaglia, but somehow turned the tide in his favour to win in three sets.

In the second round, though Krajinovic looked like a different player altogether as he hammered Nikola Milojevic of Serbia 6-1, 6-1 to book his spot in the next round.

Krajinovic is a player, who thrives on the red dirt and with his brilliant win over Milojevic in the previous round, he will be determined to put up a good show in his quarterfinal clash against Berrettini. But, will he be able to do it, remains to be seen.

Berrettini v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip

Berrettini, who is ranked 23 places above Krajinovic, will be the overwhelming favourite in this contest due to his aggressive game. However, Krajinovic may cause an upset if he is able to engage the Italian in long rallies and force him to come up winners during those lengthy exchanges.

Tip: Berrettini to win: 8/11 (bet365)
