Pavlyuchenkova Struggling to Find Past Form

Pavlyuchenkova has been in 20 WTA career finals, and, although she is better known as a hard court player, she has enjoyed a fair degree of success on clay.

Three of her career wins have come on the surface, whilst she won the doubles title in Madrid back in 2013, with partner Lucia Safafova. That was the same year that she reached the quarter-finals of the French Open, but she has not been in that sort of form for a number of years.

There has been little sign that Pavlyuchenkova is ready to get back to those levels any time soon in 2021, and she after losing in her first  match in the Australian Open, she has not gone beyond the second round in any event she entered.

Her first appearance on clay this year came in Istanbul, but her participation was ended early, beaten by compatriot Anastasia Potapova, in three sets.
