Benoit Paire v Jaume Munar Head to Head

Paire leads the head-to-head 3-0, with all three wins coming on the clay courts. The last of Paire’s victories came in the quarterfinals of Marrakech in 2018.

Paire In Awful Form Ahead of Parma Debut

With two wins and 13 defeats, Benoit Paire’s dismal run of form in 2021 is showing no signs of revival. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the worst of Paire, both in effort and results.

Paire has spoken countless times in recent months about the lack of motivation and continues to shamelessly tank tennis matches. However, in his latest defeat in Geneva to Dominik Koepfer, he won a rare set and ran the German close in three sets.

The 32-year-old has hired the services of Boris Vallejo in a coaching capacity. Vallejo has been associated with Marin Cilic before, and worked with Paire temporarily at last year’s French Open.

Paire admits the French coach brings the best out of him, and their partnership started in Geneva and is expected to continue throughout the entire clay-court swing. But the big question once more revolves around Paire’s headspace as looks to return to winning ways in Emilia-Romagna.

Munar Overcomes Ymer

Jaume Munar beat Sweden’s Mikael Ymer 6-3 7-6 to advance, but the Spaniard encountered some jitters along the way against the 22-year-old qualifier.

Munar will need an improved display in his next match particularly on his serve which fell below 65% on his first delivery, and 55% behind the second. As a consequence, Ymer’s aggressive approach kept the Spaniard guessing in finding his spots and he produced six double faults in the process.

Ymer fashioned 17 break point chances, but the massive shift of the pendulum was how Munar managed to fend off 14 of those and foiled the Swede in his attempt to serve for the second set at 5-4.

Eventually, Munar managed to win his 26th match of the season, and remarkably none of those have come outside clay.

Can he pile more misery on the unpredictable Benoit Paire?

Paire v Munar Prediction and Tip

Benoit Paire’s terrible spell of form is showing signs of an end. He took some encouraging steps in Geneva by fighting hard against Koepfer and will be in fine spirits on Wednesday against an opponent he has beaten three times before. However, Munar is a much different proposition nowadays from two years ago, having successfully graduated from the Rafael Nadal Academy. And the Spaniard has registered an astonishing 26 wins on clay this season.

Tip: Munar to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
