Adrian Mannarino v James Duckworth Head to Head

The pair have met once before, and that was on grass in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2016, Mannarino winning in three sets courtesy of a third set tie-break.

Mannarino is an Accomplished Grass Court Player

Mannarino’s elusive hunt for his first senior ATP title finally came to an end two years ago when he won the Rosmalen Championships on grass. He had been in six previous finals and lost them all, including the Antalya Open, also on grass, a year earlier.

Since then, he has been in three more finals but that remains his only win.

His record at Wimbledon  is decent, having reached the fourth round in 2017, and again the following year, his best ever at a Grand Slam.

He is currently in a poor run of form though. Since reaching the second round in Miami, he has suffered five successive first round defeats, most recently at the French Open where he was beaten by the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene.

Duckworth Makes it Through as Qualifier

Although brought up on Australian hard courts, Duckworth has also enjoyed a fair degree of success on clay in the junior tours, and got to the second round of the French Open this year before losing to Ricardis Berankis of Lithuania.

He has little form to speak of on grass, and he has only been beyond the first round at Wimbledon once

In the qualifying competition in Stuttgart, he weas drawn against compatriot. Luke Saville, and was pushed all the way by the world 415.

The first set was close and there was nothing to separate them so it went to a tie-break, Saville eventually clinching it.

Duckworth though fought back and a single break enabled him to level.

Again, there was very little to separate them in the third set, but one more break for Duckworth proved decisive in the end.

Mannarino v Duckworth Prediction and Tip

Mannarino has been on a long and sustained poor run of form, but back on one of his favourite surfaces again, he should have more than enough to beat the qualifier who prefers other surfaces..
