David Goffin v Corentin Moutet Head to Head
There have been two previous matches played between these two at the highest level and Goffin has won both times. Interestingly both those encounters came in a Grand Slam with Goffin turning out to be a straight-set winner at the 2018 French Open and needing four at the 2019 US Open.
They also featured last season at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, a shorter format of the game where Goffin triumphed in four.

While those defeats came on clay, Goffin would love to turn things around as he takes to court for his first match on grass this season. Because what seemed to have been a strong start on dirt, turned out to be a damp squib as he crashed to three successive defeats to finish the swing.
Earlier this season, however, Goffin did make a decent start, storming into the semifinal at Antalya in January and then lifting his fifth ATP title in Montpellier on indoor hard court.
As far as grass is concerned, Goffin had what can easily be described as a breakthrough season on that surface in 2019. After a quarterfinal appearance at Hertogenbosch, he went on to make it to the final at the Halle Open with wins over Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini in the process.
And if that wasn’t enough, Goffin bettered his previous-best of back to back fourth round appearances at Wimbledon to edge forward to the last eight.

Moutet’s Played Just One Tournament on Grass
He is just 22 and there was obviously one entire grass season lost to the pandemic but Moutet has played a mere one grass court tournament at the highest level all his career. It came at Wimbledon in 2019 and as a qualifier he made the first round where he defeated Grigor Dimitrov in a stunning five-setter after being two sets down.
Moutet then managed to take a set off Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second before falling to the obviously better player.
Unfortunately for him, he hasn’t played any more competitions on the surface since and it will be a big test for the world number 73 to adapt again to grass.
Especially against a player who has done well here.

This will see Goffin start off as a heavy favourite and we reckon he should come away in straight sets given his record on grass.
