Jannik Sinner v Jack Draper Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two teenagers on the ATP Tour.

Sinner Looking to Continue his Fine Run on Grass

Jannik Sinner has had a meteoric rise on the tour owing to his sensational plays and form. In 2019 around the same time, he was ranked outside the top 200. Now, he is World No. 19 and looks primed to move up further in the rankings.

Sinner has had a pretty impressive season so far, with his most recent stint being a fourth-round appearance in the French Open. Even though he fell to Rafael Nadal there, the maturity and class with which he played showed great promise for the Italian teenager.

In the preceding clay events, he fell in the early rounds but the highlights of his season came on the hard courts. The number three seed at Queen’s started his season with a title run at the ATP Melbourne, which was his second consecutive title on the tour.

A few weeks later, he reached the quarterfinal in ATP Marseille and Dubai, and followed it with the best performance of his career yet. In the Miami Masters, he made it all the way to the final, only to lose to Hubert Hurkacz. Nonetheless, that defining run put him on the map. Sinner was also a semifinalist in the Barcelona Open.

Draper, Practicing on Challenger and ITF Circuits

The 19-year-old Jack Draper faces a Herculean task in the Queens Club Championships opener. He is starting in the main draw as a wildcard but by the looks of his recent form, his run is likely to end even before it starts.

Draper has confined himself mainly to the low-tier events where he hasn’t been that successful yet. Barring his runner-up feat in the ITF Prague for which he was awarded 12 ranking points, he hasn’t made it past the early rounds in any other tournament.

It is for this reason that he is ranked well outside the top 300. That said, he did get a main-draw ticket in the Miami Open where he retired from his opening-round match against Mikhail Kukushin.

As a junior player, Draper reached the final at the 2018 Wimbledon where he fell to Tseng Chun-Hsin. Perhaps, that may give him some kind of edge when he faces Sinner on the grass in London.

Sinner v Draper Prediction and Tip

Sinner will start this match as the heavy favourite and given his recent form (and his opponent’s), he should not any difficulties in reaching the next round.
