Veronika Kudermetova v Alison Riske Head to Head
There have been two previous matches played between these two players and the scoreline is 1-1 for now. Kudermetova had won when they met at the Tianjin Open in 2018 but Riske pulled things back on the grass court of Hertogernbosch in 2019.

Given the kind of form Kudermetova has been in this season, it was a shock result for her when she went down in the second round at the Berlin Open last week.
The Russian fell to fellow countrywoman Ludmilla Samsonova in her second round match, losing 6-4, 6-3 to crash out of the tournament.
Incidentally, that defeat had followed a tough, three-set win over Karolina Muchova despite Kudermetova having gone into that encounter as a second favourite.
So while on the one hand there would be disappointment at losing to a player ranked outside the top 100 – albeit one with much improved form – Kudermetova would also take heart from the fact she took the scalp of a better-ranked player too.
Grass hasn’t been Kudermetova’s strongest suit given she hasn’t played a lot on it but there have been decent performances including a semifinal at Hertogernbosch where she had lost to her current opponent.

Riske Has No Issues with Grass
Riske is one of those rare players outside the top 10 who hasn’t had too many issues playing on grass. In fact some of her best results have come on this surface including her second and last WTA titles.
That was when she first overcame Kudermetova in the semifinal before defeating the top seeded Kiki Bertens from being a set down in the final.
Riske did not make too great of a start on grass this season though as she fell to a defeat at the Nottingham Open a week ago in her second match. After getting past Xiyu Wang in her opener, Riske fell to fellow American Lauren Davis in three sets.
That was in line with her other form issues which had seen Riske enter that grass court competition on the back of a season record of 0-3.

This should be a straightforward one for Kudermetova as she looks to go the distance in the lead-up to this year’s Wimbledon. Expecting a straight-set win here.
