With a win-loss tally of 14-4, Victoria Azarenka will be pleased with the way her season has gone so far. She may not have been that active on the tour, but the World No. 14 has done well to keep the wins coming and continue her ascent into the top 10.
She has been fairly consistent in the grass swing so far; a semifinal run in the WTA Berlin and a quarterfinal appearance in Bad Homburg. In the latter, however, she withdrew from her match against Sara Sorribes Tormo, giving the Spaniard a walkover into the semis.
Before this, she played in the French Open where Azarenka reached the fourth round before succumbing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
The 2020 US Open and Ostrava Open runner-up has been plotting a resurgence for quite some time now and so far, her efforts have paid off. But what she needs is a big win to truly establish herself as a top player once again. Of course, being a two-time Wimbledon semifinalist should help her case.

Kozlova Playing with Protected Ranking
27-year-old Kateryna Kozlova is heading in this tourmanet on the heels of a rather unexciting spell in 2021. With her best run coming in the Nottingham Open where she made it to the second round as a qualifier, there is not a whole lot of success that Kozlova has managed recently.
Plus, the Ukrainian had a late start to the season (her first event of the year was the Istanbul Cup in April) and hasn’t had that much time to get some wins under her belt.
Most recently, she played in the Viking Classic in Birmingham where Kozlova fell to Coco Vandeweghe in the qualifier.
As a player, the 27-year-old is yet to win a singles title – the closest she came to was in the 2018 Taipei Open, where she lost in the final to Timea Babos. Even here at Wimbledon, she has never won her opening-round fixture in the six times she has participated.

Azarenka has got a great chance here to pick up a quick win and start strong. After all, she is more experienced, has a superior form and pedigree on the tour. Expect her to win this match in straight sets.
