Elena Vesnina v Martina Trevisan Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

Former doubles No. 1 Elena Vesnina was out of tennis action for the last couple of seasons on account of her maternity leave. Her last singles event was in the 2018 French Open after which, she didn’t compete on the WTA singles tour up until the Madrid Open in May.
On the doubles circuit, however, the 34-year-old Russian made a comeback much earlier. Partnered with Laura Siegemund, the duo entered the Qatar Open doubles draw and made it as far as the quarterfinal.
Vesnina delivered similar runs in the Madrid Open and Italian Open too, this time paired with Vera Zvonareva.
Obviously, her results on the singles trail have not been this impressive but then again, she has just played in three tournaments so far. Her last event was the French Open where she reached the third round.
Vesnina’s strength and pedigree lie in her ability to perform on the doubles circuit. At Wimbledon alone, she has reached the finals six times – thrice in the women’s doubles and twice in the mixed doubles. In fact, the last time she played at the SW19 in 2017, she won the title with Ekaterina Makarova.

Trevisan Seeking a Reversal of Fortunes
With a win-loss tally of 5-15, Martina Trevisan hasn’t had the best of the season in 2021. While she has kept herself active, she hasn’t been able to translate her efforts into wins.
For instance, between WTA Dubai and the French Open, Trevisan featured in six WTA tournaments – and lost her opening-round matches in every single one of them.
It was the same story toward the start of the season, as well as the Bad Homburg Open last week where she fell to Sara Sorribes Tormo in the first round. The sole highlight of her season came in the Roland Garros where she reaches the second round to pick up 70 ranking points – the most she has in any tournament this season. The 27-year-old Italian also reached the quarterfinal in a WTA 125K series event in Bol, Croatia.

Vesnina v Trevisan Prediction and Tip
Vesnina, given her massive experience, should be able to reach the next round. If anything, this game serves as a good practice run for the Russian to get some momentum under her belt.
