Karolina Muchova v Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Pavlyuchenkova has won of them. Their first meeting came on the clay court of Moscow in 2019 while they faced off more recently as well, in the Madrid quarterfinal where Pavlyuchenkova triumphed in two tie-breakers.

Muchova Stretched But Makes Past Giorgi

An easy opening win against Shuai Zhang meant Muchova was in the right rhythm going into her second round match against Camila Giorgi but she did have her issues in that one.

In a match lasting two hours and 16 minutes, Muchova needed three sets to get past her Italian opponent to seal another third round berth at Wimbledon. Muchova had made it to the last eight stage at Wimbledon the last time it was played as well.

Muchova carved out a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory, slamming 11 aces and 23 aces in the encounter. Interestingly, Giorgi found 36 winners of her own but with 46 unforced errors to go with that, she was broken six times in the encounter.

It was only in the second set that Muchova struggled a tad more with her serving, winning just 56% of her first serves and Giorgi managed to take advantage of that to clinch the equaliser. The world number 22 managed to wrap up the match in the final set to move into the third with two breaks of serves.

Pavlyuchenkova Pulls Past Pliskova

Kristyna Pliskova had struggled to make it past lucky loser Astra Sharma in the first round of the tournament but against Pavlyuchenkova, she remained the second-best in the encounter end to end, allowing the Russian to ease into the third.

Pavlyuchenkova won 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and eight minutes to make it back to back straight-set victories.

After having fallen 1-3 behind in the opening set, Pavlyuchenkova broke back three times in a row to clinch the opening set. And while Pliskova repeated what she had done in the first set by breaking her opponent early, once the Russian had taken control of the set there was no looking back.

The world number 19 broke Pliskova twice in three games and finished off the encounter quickly after that.

Now comes Pavlyuchenkova’s true test but given the kind of form both players have been it could well be a tough one.

Muchova v Pavlyuchenkova Prediction and Tip

This will be a tough, gritty battle and a difficult one to call as well. Expect neither player to give an inch and it’s almost sad they are facing each other this early in the match. Expect a three-set match.
