Barbora Krejcikova v Anastasija Sevastova Head to Head

The two players have never been on the opposite sides of the court before, making this first encounter on the WTA Tour.

Krejcikova Maintains her Rhythm

Despite not participating in a single grass event before the Wimbledon, Krejcikova has done well to carry her fine form from the clay swing. Including her Thursday’s win in London, the Czech is now on a 14-match unbeaten streak stretched across Strasbourg Open and Roland Garros.

In the second round, she beat Andrea Petkovic 7-5, 6-4, with the match proving to be slightly more demanding than her first-round bout against Clara Tauson.

She next faces Sevastova – a fitting opponent to play before potentially meeting World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty in the fourth round. But the 25-year-old has quite an impressive pedigree of her own in Wimbledon and she is in a wonderful potential to capitalise on it.

Partnered with Katerina Siniakova, she won the doubles here in 2018 and followed it with a semifinal run in the next season. She will try something similar in the singles draw, on the back of a season where she has reached three singles finals and made her best leap yet in the singles ranking.

Sevastova Delivers her Best Wimbledon Result

Anastasija Sevastova has been playing at the SW19 regularly since 2008 (barring aside a 2-year hiatus). In all of her appearances, she never made it past the second round, up until now.

It was a well-deserved win against the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who made Sevastova work for three sets spanning across an hour and 30 minutes. That win was preceded by a 6-4, 6-1 match against Zarina Diyas in the opener.

This great run by Sevastova may have got something to do with her quarterfinal stint in Eastbourne International last week. Playing as a qualifier, she beat Kostyuk and Cori Gauff to reach the quarters before falling to Elena Rybakina.

The 31-year-old has had similar runs on clay and hard courts as well (Madrid Open and Miami Open) although, she never managed to get some consistency out of it. That said, Sevastova has had a decent career so far peaking at #11 in the singles ranking. She has the skillset needed to take on Krejcikova.

Krejcikova v Sevastova Prediction and Tip

This can prove to be a close call but if we’re to pick a favourite, Krejcikova would be it. However, it may not be smooth sailing for her as the Latvian will put up a good fight.
