24-year-old Fiona Ferro hasn’t had the best of the grass swing. With three opening-round losses in the three tournaments she featured in, Ferro will be pleased to finally get back on clay – a surface where she has managed to perform to some extent.
Most recently, she featured in the Wimbledon where she fell to Garbine Muguruza in the first round.
That was certainly a far cry from her form on clay this season, which included a quarterfinal run in Istanbul and a second-round appearance in the French Open. Plus, the two singles titles that she has managed to win so far in her career have come in clay tournaments – the 2019 Swiss Open and the 2020 Palermo Open.
Apart from that, she has also delivered a couple of intriguing runs this season – notably in the Australian Open where she reached the third round and the Lyon Open where she was a semifinalist.

Errani Still Struggling with Form
Former Doubles No. 1 Sara Errani has had a season to forget as she continues her quest to reclaim her former glory. The 34-year-old has spent most of this season in futile attempts to move past the early rounds.
Her best run of the year came in the Australian Open where she fell to Su-Wei Hsieh in the third round. Errani followed that with a four-match losing streak before getting some semblance of form in WTA Bogota. However, in the Italian Open and French Open, she fell right in the qualifiers while in Parma, the former World No. 5 did manage to reach the third round where she lost to Sloane Stephens.
Currently ranked #105 on the singles circuit, Errani’s last match before the Hamburg European Open was Wimbledon – Storm Sanders knocked her out in the first qualifying match in three sets.
Ferro v Errani Prediction and Tip
Ferro may lack the experience but she has had a comparatively better spell on the tour than the Italian. Plus, she holds the edge in the head to head tally too.
