Dayana Yastremska v Magdalena Frech Head to Head

Yastremska holds a 1-0 lead over Frech, last beating her in the 2019 Wimbledon.

Yastremska Cleared of Doping Suspension

It has been a whirlwind year for Dayana Yastremska so far, having spent a good part of it in several attempts to lift her suspension. Following constant back and forth with the ITF, the 21-year-old finally received the good news in June.

The ITF ruled that Yastremska bore no fault or negligence for the positive test result that she picked up back in November 2020. As a result, she was cleared to resume professional competition immediately and the provisional suspension was lifted with immediate effect.

Now she is set to compete in her first WTA event since the Linz Open last November. She had ended the year on a rather disappointing note with back to back first-round losses in the French Open, WTA Ostrava, and Linz.

That said, the current World No. 38 is a promising player with an incredibly strong forehand and backhand. She has a highly aggressive playing style – something that can make life difficult for the lower-ranked players on the tour.

Frech Starts Well in Hamburg

World No. 145 Magdalena Frech had a decent start to her Hamburg Open campaign, beating Marina Melnikova 6-4, 6-4. That win marked her first WTA victory since the Volvo Car Open earlier in the season – back then, she made it to the second round before falling to Garbine Muguruza.

Between then and now, the 23-year-old Polish featured in a mix of ITF and WTA events with some success in the former. Frech reached the semifinal in ITF Charleston and the quarterfinal in ITF Bonita Springs. However, in the Grand Slams – notably the French Open and the Wimbledon, she couldn’t move past the qualifiers.

Sandwiched between these events is also the Bett1Open where, as a qualifier, Frech reached the first round where she lost to Madison Keys.

She will now look to deliver her best run on the WTA Tour this year against Yastremska.

Yastremska v Frech Prediction and Tip

Given Yastremska’s ability and skills, she should be able to reach the quarterfinals. However, she may be rusty and with no professional matches under her belt this entire year, the game may very well turn into a slogfest.

Tip: Yastremska to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
