Ana Konjuh v Sara Errani Head to Head
The head-to-head between Konjuh and Errani is tied at 1-1. Both matches took place in 2021, with the Italian emerging victorious in the qualifying rounds of the Australian Open. But it was the Croat who won their most recent match on the clay courts of Istanbul in straight sets.

Ana Konjuh is on a road towards a top 100 ranking. Since she returned from multiple career-ending injuries, Konjuh has enjoyed some renaissance on the main tour.
She has picked up wins over the likes of Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek, and came narrowly close to win her second career title in Belgrade but for injury which saw her retire in the championship match.
Konjuh successfully qualified for Wimbledon two weeks ago, but was surprisingly beaten by Sara Sorribes Tormo. Having elected for for match play in the coming weeks in an effort to re-enter the top 100, the 23-year-old Croatian opened up her Hamburg account in a testing first-round encounter.
Konjuh battled past Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, winning in two identical sets, 7-5 7-5 in an hour and 32 minutes. In both sets the World No. 129 secured crucial breaks of serve in the 11th game as Paolini attempted to fight off the scoreboard pressure.
The unseeded Croatian landed 75% of her first serves, and won 40 out of 56 points, and nearly half of return points she conjured.

Errani Stuns Ferro For Rare Win
Sara Errani stunned Fiona Ferro, who appears to be licking the wounds of horrendous 6-0 6-1 defeat at Wimbledon at the hands of Garbine Muguruza.
Errani was a whopping 2/1 to beat the Frenchwoman whose confidence had been shuttered since Wimbledon. And the Italian veteran made a fine start by racing into a 5-0 lead in the first set. That must surely have evoked memories of Wimbledon for Ferro.
But the World No. 51 hauled herself back into the set to 5-5, although her salvage barely lasted five minutes as Errani broke for 6-5 lead and comfortably served for the first set.
The paradigm continued in the second set as Errani kept Ferro on the backfoot. She broke twice to take a 3-0 lead. Ferro once again restored parity to 3-3, but her biggest stumbling was her inability to maintain the pressure. Against a player of Konjuh’s caliber, Errani is unlikely to have two bites of the cherry.

Konjuh has looked in great shape in recent months and her comeback has been one of the feel-good stories of this 2021 season. She looks nailed on to advance in Hamburg.
