Jule Niemeier v Tamara Zidansek Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

Niemeier Sets Sight on Overcoming Another Tamara

21-year-old Niemeier is well on her way to make herself known on the WTA Tour. Starting as a wildcard in Hamburg, she first beat the number eight seed, veteran French Carolina Garcia 6-4, 6-2.

Then in the second round, she faced her compatriot Tamara Korpatsch where she ran into some resistance. It was a marathon match for Niemeier that lasted for two hours and 48 minutes but it was well worth the effort. She took the match 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3 on the back of some superb tennis. Now, she will look to put up a similar performance against Korpatsch’s namesake.

Over the course of the season, Niemeier has excelled particularly on clay so it doesn’t really come as a surprise to see her fare so well here in Hamburg.

She won an ITF title in Prague back in May (this run was preceded by a quarterfinal feat in ITF Zagreb) and followed it with a semifinal run in the Strasbourg Open. In both those tournaments, the youngster started as a qualifier.

With this kind of momentum and form, Zidansek is likely to find herself in a tough match.

Zidansek Survives Pliskova

Starting as the number three seed in the tournament, Tamara Zidansek enjoyed a bye into the second round. There, she faced the Czech Kristyna Pliskova and defeated her 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to kick start her run on a winning note.

The 23-year-old has had a pretty good run on clay this season and will fancy her chances of reaching the semis.

For starters, she was the runner-up in the Copa Colsanitas, Bogota, where she lost to Maria Camila Serrano in the final. Then a few weeks later in the French Open, she delivered her best Grand Slam performance by reaching the semifinal.

It was there that Zidansek registered her first top-10 win, beating Bianca Andreescu in the opener and moving past the likes of Katerina Siniakova, Sorana Cirstea, and Paula Badosa to reach the final four. While she ultimately fell to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, that run helped her break into the top 50, all the way from the 85th position.

Zidansek v Niemeier Prediction and Tip

This will be a good game as both the players are coming off great runs on the clay courts. The game can go either way but we may see another three-setter here.
