Corentin Moutet v Aljaz Bedene Head to Head

Moutet and Bedene played in the first round of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships less than two weeks ago. Bedene won 6-4 6-4 6-0, in their only meeting before this.

Moutet Looks to Avenge Wimbledon Loss

Corentin Moutet will certainly be looking for an improved display in Hamburg than the one he served up in his first-round defeat at the Wimbledon Championships.

The Frenchman lost 6-4 6-4 6-0 to Aljaz Bedene in an hour and 42 minutes. He was undone by his ratio of 22 winners to 34 unforced as the Slovenian’s power caused him all sorts of trouble on the slick courts. And to make matters worse, Moutet was among a handful of players who received a fine from the All England Club, to the tune of $2500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Although Moutet produced one of his best wins on grass when he beat Grigor Dimitrov at Wimbledon in 2019, he has not secured any results of note on the surface.

Currently ranked 83 in the world, Moutet is still a long way off from his best ranking of 67. And after a torrid time in the last two months in which he managed just two wins in five tournaments, he will certainly be hoping his luck changes in Nothern Germany.

Bedene Makes Another Third Round Cameo At Wimbledon

Aljaz Bedene may have switched his allegiance from Britain to his native Slovenia, but that doesn’t mean he lacks any motivation to perform at south-west London.

Bedene produced another respectable third-round cameo at Wimbledon, equaling his best showing from 2018. The 31-year-old, known for his hefty serve and a powerful two-hander, knocked off Corentin Moutet and Yoshihito Nishioka in brutal fashion.

He dropped a combined total of 11 games in the two matches and served a 6-0 set in each of those wins. However, his challenger in the third round turned to be the in-form Italian Matteo Berrettini.

Bedene was always going to come second best in the power department against the bludgeoning forehand of Berrettini. The Slovenian lost in straight sets, but narrowly, as he was broken once in each set in a 6-4 6-4 6-4 defeat.

Moutet v Bedene Prediction and Tip

This is a repeat of their Wimbledon match less than a fortnight ago. Despite a change in surface, the odds are heavily in favor of the Slovenian which is not particularly a major surprise. Moutet has had a shocker in recent months, and it is hard to see him make a quick turnaround here.
