Filip Krajinovic v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head

44th-ranked Filip Krajinovic and 166th-ranked Daniel Altmaier have not played each other before this.

Mixed Results for Krajinovic in 2021

Filip Krajinovic’s record for the 2021 season does not make for a pretty good reading. He is 9-10 for the year and has lost the first round in three of his last four tournaments.

Krajinovic, who has been ranked as high as World No. 26, lost at the first hurdle to Australia’s Alex Bolt at Wimbledon. Bolt had been playing some fine tennis on the grass in the week prior to Wimbledon and had won the Nottingham Challenger as a qualifier.

And given that he was slated as a slight favorite despite his low ranking, he doubled down and produced a gutsy win over the World No. 44. Krajinovic did not play badly, but his inability to put Bolt’s serve under pressure proved telling. He only fashioned three breakpoint chances in comparison to the Aussie’s 12.

Krajinovic has now lost the opener in each of his last four trips to southwest London, and the grass-court Slam is the only Major in which he has failed to win a match in his career.

Altmaier Wins First Challenger Title

Daniel Altmaier won his maiden ATP Challenger title in Braunschweig on Saturday, and he did so in style. The 22-year-old German needed to triumph in the semis and finals which were scheduled on the same day after a rain-interrupted Friday.

The six-footer from Kempen did not drop a set during the week in which he beat Challenger rivals such as Elias Ymer, Marvin Moeller, and Henri Laaksonen in the championship match. This was a perfect retort given Altmaier’s inability to qualify for Wimbledon just a few weeks earlier.

With his success in Braunschweig, Altmaier earned a wild card entry in the main draw of Hamburg for the third time and he will attempt to win his first match in these parts when takes on the out-of-form Serbian Filip Krajinovic on Tuesday.

Altmaier famously reached the fourth round of the French Open as a qualifier in 2020, registering upset wins over Feliciano Lopez, Jan-Lennard Struff, and Matteo Berrettini.

Krajinovic v Altmaier Prediction and Tip

Altmaier is brimming with confidence after capturing his first Challenger title on Saturday. But with just a few days of rest, the German might be weary when he takes on Krajinovic in Hamburg.

Needless to say, the Serbian hasn’t played a lot of tennis in the last month after electing to sit out from all Wimbledon tuneup events altogether. Backing the German might be a feasible option in this one.
