Parrizas Diaz Showing Constant Improvement

Yet to make a mark on the tour, Spain’s Nuria Parrizas Diaz has been a consistent performer at the lower levels and she clinched the biggest title of her career 10 days ago, winning the Swedish Open in Bastad, a WTA 125K clay court event.

In what has been the best year in her professional career so far, the 30-year-old Spaniard also made her WTA main draw debut in Bogota and went on to reach the quarterfinals of that tournament.

She has been phenomenal at the ITF Circuit as well, winning four titles, thanks to which she heads to Poland with an overall record of 38-11 in 2021.

Ranked 112th in the world, the Spaniard has shown a liking for both hard and clay surfaces, winning three of her five title this year on the former and two on the latter. Overall she has won 21 titles and finished runner-up on 16 occasions at the ITF level and now seems prepared to make her presence felt at the highest level as well. She reached the second round in Prague last week and will look to notch a few wins in Gdynia as well.

Frech Looking to Make an Impression at Home

These are still early days for World No. 152 Magdalena Frech’s career, and she will be hoping to use the home advantage to her favour as the Pole begins her campaign on Tuesday.

A winner of four ITF titles, Frech also has two runner-up finishes, but has had her share of problems at the lower-tier, reaching just one final over the last four years.

The 23-year-old, who peaked to a career-high ranking of 115 in 2018, has a 19-12 record across levels this year and will be featuring in the main draw of a tour-level event for the fifth time in 2021.

She will be looking to draw inspiration from her performances in Charleston and Hamburg (last week), as she reached the second rounds in both the events. However, she faces a stern test against an in-form player right up front.

Parrizas Diaz v Frech Prediction and Tip

Home fans may want to see Frech make a winning start but she faces a tough opener against Parrizas Diaz, who has been in exceptional form this season and may take this in straight sets.
