Krejcikova in Excellent Form

It has been a season to remember for Krejcikova but it’s form in more recent times that make her one of the favourites for a medal.

Krejcikova who clinched the French Open title earlier this year, has won 20 of her last 21 matches which includes three titles from four tournaments played. And one of them was at her most recent competition in Prague, which was hosted on a hard court surface.

Earlier this year, Krejcikova had also reached the final WTA Dubai, defeating Maria Sakkari, Jelena Ostapenko and Svetlana Kuznetsova before going down fighting to Garbine Muguruza.

It was that performance in Dubai which laid the seeds for what was to follow.

Krejcikova now enters the Olympics for the first time and with an offer of 14/1 for an outright gold medal win. Wouldn’t be that bad an option to go with her given the kind of form she brings into this tournament.

Diyas Hasn’t Played on Hard Court Since Miami

Not that Diyas has won too many matches anyway, but she would be entering this main draw having not played in a hard court tournament since Miami Open in March.

Her more recent performances haven’t been extraordinary and despite having won a couple of rounds in Lausanne – including a surprise of Camila Giorgi – Diyas will have a fight on her hands against the world number 11.

The one positive for Diyas is the early part of this season had seen her exhibit signs of sparkle on that surface. At the 2021 Australian Open, for instance, Diyas reached third round, which was her joint-best ever at that tournament.

Later she also would a couple of rounds at Phillip Island Trophy, before having to retire from her third round match against Bianca Andreescu because of a leg injury.

Things haven’t quite been the same again for her and coming up against Krejcikova here won’t be making it any easier.

Krejcikova v Diyas Prediction and Tip

Expecting a rather one-sided encounter this and at 1/12 for her win, even bookmakers think so. A games handicap option is a good one if you are looking for a riskier bet than a straight-set win for the Czech.
