Having missed out on a chance to clinch the title in 2019, Taylor Fritz will be hoping to add to his Eastbourne title this time around. Donskoy Qualifies for the Main Draw

Russia’s Evgeny Donskoy is coming through the qualifiers. The World No. 154 who tends to fare better on hard courts against other surfaces, fought back from a set down to beat America’s Noah Rubin 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first qualifying round and then defeatd Australia’s Mathew Ebden in straight sets on Sunday to qualify for the main draw.

The 31-year-old, who has mostly featured in qualifiers and Challenger events this year, played his first two tour-level events of the year this month in Newport and Los Cabos.

While he was dumped out of the former by America’s Jenson Brooksby in the first round, he won his first match in Los Cabos, defeating Jason Jung but fell to John Isner in a tight second-round contest.

Over his career Donskoy has produced a 45-78 record on hard courts, which far outweighs his 6-23 record on clay and 4-12 record on grass. He will be hoping to put up a solid fight against Fritz in the first round.
