Diego Schwartzman v Benoit Paire Head to Head

Diego Schwartzman has featured in three career, head-to-head meetings with Benoit Paire till date, holding a slender 2-1 lead over the latter. Their last meeting came in the first round of this year’s Wimbledon Championships which saw the Argentine coming through comfortably in straight sets.

Schwartzman Coming off Wimbledon Third Round

Coming into All England this year in the hope of going deeper than he did at the Australian Open and Roland-Garros, and, possibly gun for his maiden Grand Slam title, Schwartzman couldn’t progress beyond the third round.

Opening his Wimbledon campaign with an emphatic win over Paire, the current World No. 14 followed up with a slightly more labored win in four sets against Liam Broady of Great Britain.

However, he came hopelessly unstuck against Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the third round, going down in four sets to crash out of the tournament.

Making his first Tour appearance since the All England harvest, Schwartzman will launch his Toronto campaign against a seasoned but a mercurial opponent in Benoit Paire.

The Argentine has had a season to remember thus far, but still has a chance to salvage some silverware in the ongoing hard-court swing and get himself into some kind of form ahead of the US Open.

Paire Overcomes High-Flying McDonald

After conceding his last-16 tie in Atlanta against Emil Ruusuvuori, Paire fell in the last 32 at the Washington Open to Mackenzie McDonald.

However, he had his own back soon as he downed the American in straight sets his opening clash at the Canadian Open.

Between the Frenchman and a place in the last-16 stands Schwartzman, a seasoned rival who has got his number more times than one.

Before the twin setbacks in Atlanta and Washington, Paire had recorded back-to-back quarter-final finishes at the Swiss Open and German Open and the Frenchman would like to regain lost ground and get into the groove on concrete in the Canadian capital.

Schwartzman v Paire Prediction and Tip

While the 14th-ranked Schwartzman would start as a favorite, albeit marginally, in this third-round battle, Paire, on his day, can be more than a handful against the top rivals. Like all matches that the pair has previously been part of, this one should also go down to the wire.
