Barbora Krejcikova has established herself on the singles court this year, rising to 10th in the rankings and consistently making deep runs at the big tournaments.
The Czech has been defeated only twice since May yet has recorded an astounding 22 wins which included a 15-match winning streak ranging from title wins in Strasbourg, where she beat Cirstea 6-3 6-3 in the final and Roland Garros, where she beat Pavlyuchenkova 6-1 2-6 6-4 in the final.
Barbora was finally defeated in the 4th round at Wimbledon by eventual champion Ashleigh Barty.
The 25-year-old has also had huge success on the doubles court with compatriot Siniakova. In Paris, the Czech pair won the doubles title beating Mattek-Sands and Swiatek 6-4 6-2 in the final.
Recently, the pair added Olympic Gold to their list of achievements beating the Swiss team Bencic and Golubic 7-5 6-1 in Tokyo.
Krejcikova travels to American and kicks off her campaign against Russia’s Kasatkina who also plays a solid game. These two have yet to meet on the WTA circuit so may take a few games to figure each other out.

Tough Draw for Kasatkina
Daria Kasatkina has had a good year with notable results coming in Saint Petersburg where she lifted the trophy in her home country defeating Gasparyan 6-3 2-1 in the final, before her compatriot has to retire.
Along the way, Kasatkina successfully fended off fellow Russians Kuznetsova and Kudermetova in tight 3-set battles. The 24-year-old also made an impressive run on the grass in Birmingham, making it all the way to the final before losing the final to Turkey’s Ons Jabeur 7-5 6-4.
Kasatkina has been dealt the short straw with her 2021 Cincinnati draw as she faces arguably the best player during the 2021 season.
The Russian’s game style can definitely trouble Krejcikova and put her under pressure, but Daria is going to have to get her tactics spot on if the wishes to advance to the next round.
