Simona Halep v Magda Linette Head to Head
In their one and only encounter on the WTA Tour so far, Halep has emerged as the clear winner. The match took place in the 2019 French Open where the Romanian won in three sets to reach the third round.

2021 hasn’t been kind of Simona Halep – notably owing to injuries. A right shoulder injury in March and a calf injury in May have kept her away from the tour. The lack of playing time has subsequently led to a sharp drop in her form and the rankings – she is now out of the top 10 for the first time since 2014.
In the few tournaments Halep did feature in, she was quite impressive. At the start of the season, she was a quarterfinalist in the Gippsland Trophy and Australian Open while in the WTA Stuttgart, she made it as far as the semis.
Owing to her injury, the 29-year-old Romanian sat out the French Open, grass swing, and the Olympics. She returned to the tour only last week in the Canadian Open where she had the misfortune of facing the in-form American Danielle Collins and lost to her 6-2, 4-6, 4-6.

Linette, Hoping to Build on her Recent Success
Magda Linette’s delayed start to the season was quite unexciting and largely marked by early-round exits in Miami, Charleston, Madrid, and Rome.
But a semifinal run in the Strasbourg Open and a third-round appearance in the French Open set the tone for the rest of her season. These performances were among the best ones that Linette has delivered in quite some time on the WTA Tour. A few weeks later, she reached the third round once again – this time in the Wimbledon and later, WTA San Jose. In these two tournaments, she defeated the likes of Amanda Anisimova, Elina Svitolina, and Petra Martic.
Linette has also done well in the doubles discipline by reaching the semifinal in the French Open and Canadian Open with Bernarda Pera.
Her last singles event was in Montreal where the #44 ranked Pole fell to Nadia Podoroska in the first round.
Halep v Linette Prediction and Tip
Halep will start as the favourite but given her shaky form, Linette can smell blood and will fancy her chances just as well. But as a two-time Grand Slam winner and three-time finalist, Halep should do well to come out with a win here.
