Bianca Andreescu v Karolina Muchova Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Andreescu Struggling to Find her Rhythm

World No 8 Bianca Andreescu is starting her run in the Western & Southern Open as the number seven seed with a bye into the second round.

Her recent form has been disappointing, to say the least. With just two wins in her last five tournaments, the 21-year-old Canadian is in dire need of a revival.

Andreescu’s last tournament was the Canadian Open where she fell to Ons Jabeur in round three (following a bye into the second round). It was a similar story in Eastbourne International – back then, it was Anett Kontaveit who stunned the 2019 US Open champion.

That said, if there was a time for Andreescu to start firing again, the events in the American swing would be it. Earlier in the year, she reached the final in the Miami Open (losing to Ash Barty). Plus, it is under these conditions that she rose to prominence in 2019 – there is no reason why she can’t do it once again.

Muchova Survives Konta

Karolina Muchova had to work hard to reach the second round here in Cincinnati. Facing the British No. 1 Johanna Konta, the 24-year-old needed two hours and 29 minutes to win the match with 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2.

Even though Muchova is yet to win a title, she has done well to establish herself as a formidable opponent. Over the course of the season, she has delivered a few impressive performances.

Right off the bat, she reached the quarterfinal in the Gippsland Trophy and the semifinal in the Australian Open. A few months later, Muchova reached the quarters once again – this time in the Madrid Open and Wimbledon. In her wake, she defeated a few, well-established players like Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Maria Sakkari, Naomi Osaka, Karolina Pliskova, Ashleigh Barty, and Elise Mertens.

However, last week in Montreal, she was beaten by Oceane Dodin in round one.

Andreescu v Muchova Prediction and Tip

Both players are highly talented, making this match a close one to call. After all, Muchvoa has the stamina and skills to combat Andreescu’s raw power – combined with the Canadian’s shaky form of late, the Czech can certainly smell a win here.
