The 19-year-old will be playing in her first tournament since the Wimbledon. She has had another great year so far, reaching two semifinals and producing impressive performances at the majors.
Kostyuk, who made her mark as a 15-year-old at the 2018 Australian Open, reached the fourth round in only her second Roland Garros appearance this season, which included a first-round win over 2016 champion Garbine Muguruza.
Beginning the season as World No. 99, Kotsyuk has peaked to her current ranking of 56, thanks to her consistent performances this year, which included runs to the semifinals in the season-opening Abu Dhabi Open on hard courts and the Istanbul Open on clay.
The Ukrainian, who reached the third round on her U.S. Open debut last year, will be looking to hit the ground running in Chicago, with the final major just a week away.
Bringing in a 19-11 record from all competitions, across levels, Kostyuk will be hoping to make a splash in North America.

Sebov Has Struggled Throughout the Year
Sebov will be featuring in the main draw of a tour-level event for the first time this year. The 22-year-old Canadian was beaten in the first qualifying round in Montreal by Heather Watson.
She also played in the qualifiers of the Volvo Car Open in Charleston, winning the first round against Russia’s Varvara Flink, but failing to make the main draw after falling to Poland’s Magdalena Frech.
Sebov, who achieved a career-high ranking of 192 in 2019, is currently ranked No. 310 in the world. She hasn’t had a great year so far, reaching just two ITF quarterfinals, while falling in either the qualifiers or early rounds of all other tournaments. She heads to Chicago with an 8-10 record in 2021.
