Madison Keys v Sloane Stephens Head to Head

Keys arrives in New York having not won a match since Wimbledon, and has suffered opening round defeats in San Jose, Montreal, and Cincinnati. The 26-year-old will be looking to transfer her grass court form onto the hard courts and level up the head-to-head with Stephens to book a second-round encounter with either Gauff or Linette.

Stephens Aiming to Extend the H2H
Former US Open champion arrives in New York with a 16-15 Win/Loss ratio, winning just 3 hard court matches this year, and suffering 8 defeats.
The American’s deepest run into a tournament this year came in Parma, Italy where she reached the semi-finals before losing in straight sets to Wang. This run included wins against McNally, Kasatkina, and Errani.
Stephens also reached the quarterfinals in Charleston, beating Xin Wang, her US Open opponent Keys, and Tomljanovic before losing to Kudermetova 6-3 6-4 in the quarters. It was a successful clay court season for Stephens, successfully winning 65% of her matches on the surface.
Stephens knows what it takes to beat Keys at this very tournament, which could be a huge advantage and will likely adopt the same tactics in hope of making the second round and extending the H2H with her compatriot.
