Anett Kontaveit v Jil Teichmann Head to Head

Kontaveit kicked off her 2021 US Open with a 6-3 6-0 straight sets over Australian Sam Stosur to set up a tie with Teichmann. Teeing down 5 aces and winning 77% of first-serve points, the Estonian didn’t drop her serve once, placing immense pressure on her opponent.

The 25-year-old possesses an impressive 25-13 W/L ratio for the year with 16 of these wins coming on hard courts. Kontaveit is currently in impressive form and is on a 6-match winning streak after lifting the Cleveland trophy last week to win her 2nd WTA title.
Along the way, the top 30 player defeated Davis, Garcia, Siniakova, Sorribes-Tormo, before defeating Begu in the final 7-6(5) 6-4 to lift the trophy.
The Estonian will be looking to keep this run going and make a deep run at the US Open, however, and inform Teichmann stands in her way, she will have to play her best tennis to reach the 3rd round.

Teichmann In Impressive Hard-Court Form
Teichmann has had an impressive 2021 season and her opening US Open performance was no different, sailing past Busca 6-3 6-4 to reach the second round. The Swiss was able to hit 5 aces and win 71% of first-serve points along the way to a victory. Battering down 16 winners, Teichmann was able to claim the victory.
Teichmann currently holds a 19-14 W/L record for the year, with 16 of these wins coming on the hard courts.
The Swiss recently recorded her best result of the season by reaching the final of Cincinnati. She scored impressive wins against the likes of Osaka, Bencic, and Pliskova, dropping just one set on her way to the final. In tie title-winning match, she fell to World Number 1 Barty 6-3 6-1 to take home the runners-up trophy.
Teichmann will be eager to keep her impressive hard-court performances going and avenge the loss she suffered to Kontaveit last year, a win for the Swiss would set up an encounter with either Ferro or Swiatek.
