Petra Kvitova v Kristyna Pliskova Head to Head
It’s 1-1 from their previous two meetings. Kvitova won in Beijing in 2017. while Pliskova won in Charleston in 2018.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova powered past Slovenia’s Polona Hercog in the first round.
Dropping just 13 points on her serve and winning 51% receiving points, Kvitova handed the Slovenian a 6-1, 6-2 drubbing. Kvitova converted all four of her break points in the match and saved all three that she faced. The 10th seed also struck 18 winners and had 13 unforced errors in a near flawless performance.
The World No. 11, who won her 28th career title in Doha earlier this year, had looked good in Cincinnati until a “stomach-related issue” forced her to retire from her quarterfinal match against Angelique Kerber.
The U.S. Open remains the only major where Kvitova hasn’t reached the semifinals despite having made it to the last eight in 2015 and 2017. Can she do it this year?
Going by the way she has started she definitely looks set for a long run in the tournament. However she has struggled in the majors this year, falling in the second rounds in Melbourne and Paris and losing her opener at Wimbledon.

Qualifier Pliskova Ousts Kovinic
Qualifier Kristyna Pliskova moved into the second round of the tournament with a straight sets win over World No. 67 Danka Kovinic.
The Czech left-hander dominated the contest, serving 13 aces and striking 25 winners for a 6-4, 6-3 win. The 66-minute match, saw Pliskova convert all four of her break points, while Kovinic broke the Czech just once in the second set.
It’s been a good few days for Pliskova in New York, as she qualified for the main draw by defeating Russia’s Valeria Savinykh, America’s Robin Anderson and another Russian Kamilla Rakhimova in the three qualifying rounds. Anderson was the only one to take her to three sets, while she eased past the other two in straight sets.
The 29-year-old, playing in the main draw for the seventh time at the U.S. Open, has never gone past the Round of 64, having reached the stage three times before.
Kvitova v Pliskova Prediction and Tip
Although they are 1-1 from their previous two meetings, Kvitova will be a heavy favourite in this contest.
