Tereza Martincova v Kristina Kucova Head to Head

This will be their first meeting on the tour. They are 1-1 from two previous qualifying meetings, with Kucova winning in 2013 and Martincova in 2019.

Martincova Can Pack a Punch

It’s been a solid year for Martincova, who broke into the top 100 for the first time in her career this season.

The Czech also made it to her maiden WTA final at the Prague Open, only to finish runner-up to Barbora Krejcikova, has been a difficult player to beat on hard and grass surfaces. Among a few firsts for the Czech this season were her first wins in the main draw of majors. She reached the second round of the French Open and the third at Wimbledon.

Martincova also made her Round of 16 debut at a WTA 1000 tournament (in Dubai), and reached the second round in Miami, having come through the qualifiers in both the tournaments. She was particularly good on grass, reaching the last eight in Nottingham and Birmingham. More recently she reached the last eight of the Chicago Open but was knocked out in the opening round of the U.S. Open.

She is unseeded in the tournament, but she will be a force to reckon with.

Kucova Has Been Impressive on Hard Courts

Having entered the main draw of the U.S. Open as a lucky loser, Kucova powered past Ann Li for her first ever win in the tournament. However, the Slovakian could win just four games in a second round defeat to Simona Halep.

Kucova, too, reached her maiden WTA final this year, scoring four consecutive wins on her way to the title clash at the Poland Open, but a title remained elusive after she went down to Belgium’s Maryna Zanevska in the final.

Ranked No. 119 in the world, the 31-year-old was a quarterfinalist in Cluj-Napoca and reached the Round of 16 in Monterrey and Miami. She knocked out Sloane Stephens in the first round in Monterrey and took a set of Ashleigh Barty in Miami, before going down to the Australian in the second round.

Kucova also made the last eight of a few lower level tournaments, and will be hoping to improve on her 25-20 record in Slovenia.

Martincova v Kucova Prediction and Tip

This one will be an interesting first round contest. The last time they met the match needed a third set. Can expect a close contest again with Martincova coming out on top.
