Paula Badosa v Caroline Garcia Head to Head

In their one and only meeting on the WTA Tour, Garcia emerged as the winner. This meeting took place in the 2019 WTA Mallorca where the Frenchwoman won with 6-2, 6-7(1), 6-3.

Badosa, Looking to Continue her Solid Run

World No. 27 Paula Badosa is arriving for the WTA 500 Ostrava with a win-loss tally of 34-14. What’s impressive is the strides she has made on the tour in 2021 – case in point, in the last year’s edition of the Ostrava Open, she was beaten in the qualifiers. Now, she is starting in the main draw by the virtue of her ranking.

The Spaniard has clearly come a long way since the start of the year. Her highlights include semifinal runs in WTA Lyon, Charleston, and Madrid Open. In WTA Belgrade, Badosa won her first singles title and built on that success with a quarterfinal appearance in the French Open.

The 23-year-old did a fabulous job of carrying the same run forward across other surfaces as she reached the fourth round in Wimbledon and quarterfinal at the Cincinnati Open and Tokyo Olympics.

With largely consistent performances in 2021 and a significant leap in the rankings (she started the season as World No. 70), Badosa has staked her claim as a rising star who is a force to be reckoned with.

Garcia, Battling Form Woes

Caroline Garcia has been sailing in an entirely different tide than her Spanish adversary.

Having had a season where she has succumbed primarily in the early rounds, Garcia is desperate for a good run and to find some solace. Easier said than done, of course, given the form of her opponent and her own struggles to deliver.

In her last five tournaments – US Open, WTA Cleveland, Cincinnati, Montreal, and San Jose, Garcia has failed to move beyond round two. Such has been the case for most of her season, barring a handful of tournaments like WTA Dubai and Parma (round three) and Ladies Open Lausanne (semifinalist).

As a former World No. 4, Garcia boasts a rich pedigree comprising big wins like the China Open and Wuhan Open. She has defeated many top 10 players over the course of her career as well but of late, she is struggling.

Badosa v Garcia Prediction and Tip

Badosa is in terrific form right now and shouldn’t face any major difficulties in moving past Garcia to reach the second round.
