Grigor Dimitrov v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before and Fucsovics has won on each occasion. Both meetings were in 2020, with the Hungarian winning in three sets at the Cincinnati Masters and then winning a five set battle at the US Open.

Has Dimitrov Recovered from his US Open Injury Woes?

Three times a Grand Slam semi-finalist, and winner of the ATP Finals in 2017 in London, Dimitrov began the year strongly, getting to the last eight of the Australian Open, losing eventually to Aslan Karatsev.

He has since struggled to reproduce that form and, until recently, third round appearances In Acapulco and at the Monte Carlo Masters were the best he had managed.

But, after losing in the first round of the French Open and the second round of Wimbledon, he was hoping to far better at the US Open, encouraged by his performance at the Cincinnati Open, where he got to the third round before losing to Daniil Medvedev.

Unfortunately for the Bulgarian, he was forced to retire from his second round match with the Australian Alexei Popyrin with an injury, although he was two sets down at the time.

Fucsovics Struggling for Form Since Wimbledon

Fucsovics reached his third senior career final in February and his first in more than two years, In Rotterdam in March, losing in straight sets to Andrey Rublev.

It means that his win at the Geneva Open in 2018 remains his only tournament victory at this level.

However, he remains a consistent performer at the top level as evidenced by the fact that he became the first Hungarian for 73 years to reach a Wimbledon quarter-final, before eventually losing to world number one and the eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

That performance helped him break back into the top 40 again, but he has just dipped below that level, after a disappointing string of recent results.

He was beaten in the first round in Cincinnati and the US Open, sandwiched by a second round appearance at Winston-Salem.

And that poor sequence continued at the Moselle Open last week where he was beaten in straight sets in his opening match by Lorenzo Sonego of Italy.

Dimitrov v Fucsovics Prediction and Tip

Although Dimitrov is the higher ranked player, Fucsovics has won both of the two previous matches between the pair has seems to have a knack for it. He will be confident he can shrug off his latest poor form and win again..
