No. 10 seed Danielle Collins has had a wonderful campaign in Chicago so far as she defeated the likes of Kirsten Flipkens and Misaki Doi in the opening rounds. Most recently, she knocked out the number seven seed Elise Mertens 6-2, 6-4 to make it to the quarterfinals.
Collins has been particularly impressive in the American swing this season. She won the WTA San Jose Open after defeating Daria Kasatkina in the final. That was her second consecutive WTA title on the tour, with the other coming a week before in the Palermo Open, Italy.
The 27-year-old American built on it with a couple of third-round appearances in the Canadian Open and US Open.
Looking at her overall form this season, Collins has reached the penultimate rounds in quite a few tournaments. In the Australian Open series, she reached the quarters in Yarra Valley Classic and Adelaide International, and semis in the Phillip Island Trophy. Then in July, she reached the same rounds at the Hamburg European Open and Hungarian Grand Prix.
Collins has been fairly consistent this season as she continues to move up in the singles rankings.

Vondrousova, Yet to Drop a Set
Marketa Vondrousova is in a menacing form here in the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic. Having yet to lose a set, she has left in her wake an impressive list of defeated players.
Starting with Ajla Tomljanovic, the 22-year-old Czech then moved on to overcome the current French Open runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and later, the rising Swiss star Jil Teichmann.
A quarterfinalist in the WTA 250 edition of the same tournament, Vondrousova has proven time and again that she is not a player to be taken lightly. The Olympic silver medalist arrived in Chicago following a semifinal run in the Luxembourg Open where she lost to Clara Tauson. Her other highlights of the season include a fourth-round appearance in the French Open, Miami Open, Australian Open, and a semifinal run in the Yarra Valley Classic.
Collins v Vondrousova Prediction and Tip
This will be an interesting match between the two upcoming players on the WTA Tour – one who happens to be left-handed and the other a right one. Both players are in fine form but Collins, given the home advantage, will start as the favourite.
