Konjuh Looking to Regain Form

Konjuh will be featuring in the main draw at Indian Wells for the second time. She was knocked out in her opening match on her debut in 2017.

The 23-year-old Croatian, who was a quarterfinalist at the U.S. Open in 2016, missed three years of action following an elbow surgery in 2017. She made an impressive return to the tour this year, reaching the fourth round of the Miami Open and then making it to the final of the Serbia Open.

Konjuh was also a semifinalist at the Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose in August but hasn’t been in the best of forms of late. She did make it past the qualifiers at the U.S. Open but lost in the first round. It was followed by a second round exit from the Slovenia Open.

Next, she qualified for the Ostrava Open, but faced another opening-round defeat. Last week, she featured in the WTA 250 Astana Open, beating Urszula Radwańska in straight sets but falling to Anastasia Gasanova in the second round.

Konjh will be hoping to string a few wins together regain her form in Indian Wells.

A three-time champion on the tour, the Slovak hasn’t reached a senior final since 2019, but she made it to the title clash at the WTA 125 in Belgrade this year, and even better, went on to win the clay-court title by defeating Arantxa Rus in the final.

Overall the former World No. 26 is 34-20 from all matches across levels this year. On hard courts, the 27-year-old reached the quarterfinals in Guadalajara and Monterrey this year.
