Federico Coria v Brandon Nakashima Head to Head

Coria and Nakashima have never been involved in a head-to-head clash till date. However, both are accomplished players across surfaces and are guaranteed to produce to a fascinating contest in their first-ever head-to-head meeting.

Coria Coming off US Open Opener Defeat

After finishing runners-up at Salzburg Challenger and falling at the final hurdle of what would have been his maiden Tour title at the Swedish Open, Coria suffered a noticeable dip in form that saw him finish in the second round at Winston-Salem and go out in the first round of the year’s last Grand Slam, the US Open.

Drawing veteran Frenchman Gael Monfils in his opening clash at the Flushing Meadows, the 67th-ranked Argentine was sent packing in straight sets.

After taking the opening set by a comfortable margin, the Frenchman cranked up the heat on the Argentine in the next two to coast to a facile win.

In his first Tour event since the US Open ouster, Coria will launch his campaign at the prestigious Indian Wells Masters against rising American star Brandon Nakashima.

Though the Argentine would be desperate to return to winning ways, he won’t have it easy against an opponent who already has two final appearances, albeit in losing causes, against his name this season and will feed off the home support at the Masters.

Nakashima Went Down to Rublev in San Diego

After the high of back-to-back runner-up finishes at Los Cabos and Atlanta this year, Nakashima has seen his form desert him somewhat as he followed up with a string of modest returns at subsequent events.

At his last Tour event, the San Diego Open, the 20-year-old American opened his campaign with a scrappy win in three sets over experienced Italian Fabio Fognini.

However, far from improving on his showing in his next, Nakashima failed to put up a fight against Andrey Rublev of Russia and was worked over easily in straight sets.

In quest of atonement and a maiden Tour title, the 83rd-ranked American will open his Indian Wells campaign against Argentine Federico Coria, an experienced campaigner in the men’s circuit.

Though the Argentine hasn’t set the tennis world alight with his recent showings, he won’t be an easy rival to get past for Nakashima in Thursday’s clash.

Coria v Nakashima Prediction and Tip

Neither Coria nor Nakashima have a decent run of results going into this first-round clash. However, the American, one suspects, will hold a slight edge with the home crowd behind him.
