Hubert Hurkacz v Andy Murray  Head to Head

The players have met twice on the tour, both times this year. Hurkacz won on both occasions, at Cincinnati and at Metz, with identical 7-6, 6-3 scorelines.

Hurkacz Gunning For Turin Spot

It has been a good season for Pole Hubert Hurkacz winning titles in Delray Beach at the beginning of the season and Metz last month and more importantly he won the Miami Open Masters 1000 back in the Spring.

Hurkacz was also a semi-finalist at Wimbledon and defeated Roger Federer at Center Court in the quarter-finals en route including a 6-0 third set, an unheard of scoreline against Federer at Wimbledon.

With the season coming to an end, the young player from Poland remains in contention for one of the last two remaining spots for the ATP Tour Finals in Turin alongside Casper Ruud, Jannik Sinner and Cameron Norrie.

Hurkacz had a good run at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 last week resulting in a disappointing quarter-final loss from a position of strength to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.

The number five seed in Vienna will be hoping for a good run here this week solidifying his position to qualify in Turin.

Murray Continues Comeback

Former world number one Andy Murray continued his comeback trail on the North American hard courts with second round losses in Cincinnati and Winston Salem. He was  up against world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening round of the US Open and although the Scot put up a phenomenal performance, he fell just short in five sets.

The Briton has talked about still aiming to be in the top ten after he lost in Metz after the US Open, in the quarter-finals to eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz.

After a loss to eventual champion Casper Ruud in San Diego, Murray started off well at Indians Wells recording wins against Adrian Mannarino and Carlos Alcaraz before falling short against German top five in the world Alexander Zverev.

The Briton continued his run last week at Antwerp winning an epic battle against Frances Tiafoe in the opener, but fell shot against eventual runner-up Diego Schwartzman in the next round.

The three-time major title winner will be looking for another good week here and get more notable wins under his belt as he continues his most remarkable return to the game.

Hurkacz v Murray Prediction and Tip

A good match ahead for an opening round, and what one can be assured of is that Andy Murray will not go out without a fight. Expect a tight three-setter, with Hurkacz prevailing and continuing his quest for a spot in Turin.
