Clara Tauson v Stefanie Voegele Head to Head

Tauson and Voegele have never faced off before this.

Breakthrough Year for Tauson

Clara Tauson has undoubtedly been one of the WTA’s breakout stars in 2021. Tauson has defied her age and plays like a veteran surveying a long career on the tour. She has already put together a prolific junior career which includes reaching the No. 1 ranking and winning the Australian Open juniors title in 2019.

At the age of 18, she has won three WTA titles this season (Lyon, Chicago, and Luxembourg), and notched four victories over Top 50 players. Tauson has also made up over 100 spots in the rankings. She started the year outside the world’s top 150, but currently sits at a career-high No. 48.

The Danish teenager has done her reputation a whole world of good. She is likely to be nominated for the WTA’s breakthrough player of the year as a result of her accomplishments this season.

With a 15-9 record for the year, it is certainly not beyond Tauson to bag a fourth career title. She has emerged as a perennial danger on indoor hard courts tournaments owing to her power-packed game and her composure in pressure moments.

Voegele Becomes Replacement Entrant

This will be Stefanie Voegele’s 12th appearance in the main draw of WTA tournament this season. But surprisingly enough, she has only managed to win her first-round match on three occasions, which is quite a drought.

Voegele has played so many qualifying matches due to her low ranking, and she tends to be a spent force when she arrives in the main draw. But that won’t be the case in Courmayeur where she has earned entry following a spate of withdrawals from top-tier players.

The Swiss woman who is ranked 115th in the world rankings has garnered a modest four wins all year. She reached the quarterfinals in Bogota, and aside from that wins have been few and far between.

Voegele has been ranked as high as No. 43, but that was almost eight years ago. Nowadays she features predominantly on the ITF circuit where she has won eight titles in her career. Can the 31-year-old produce a major upset on day one of the first edition of the Courmayeur Open?

Tauson v Voegele Prediction and Tip

Complacency tends to be a big problem for young players who just won a match or a title. But for the case of Tauson, her attitude has been exemplary in curbing this sort of effect. We expect the Dane to take care of the World No. 115 in style.

Tip: Tauson to win AND under 19.5 games: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
