Arthur Rinderknech v Hugo Gaston Head to Head

Rinderknech and Gaston have never been involved in a head-to-head clash before. However, feeding off the home support at the Paris Masters, both would be fiercely motivated to give off their absolute best in their first-ever meeting on court.

Rinderknech Keen to Return to Winning Ways at Bercy

Rinderknech distinguished himself in his last event Tour event, the European Open in Antwerp, Belgium, reaching the quarter-finals on the back of wins over Argentine Federico Delbonis and Serbian Dusan Lajovic.

However, the Frenchman’s hopes of lifting his maiden Tour championship title vanished into thin air after he lost his quarter-final outing in straight sets against eventual champion, Italian Jannik Sinner.

He then went off to play a Challenger event back home, hoping to pick up a title and giving himself a good head of momentum going into the Paris Masters.

However, the Challenger event ended up being a misadventure for the 62nd-ranked Frenchman as he fell to an opening-round defeat to fellow countryman Manuel Guinard.

He would look to shrug off the hurt from that loss and make a fresh dash for a maiden career title at the Masters on Monday. The Frenchman will open his campaign against hugely talented compatriot Hugo Gaston.

Though the two have never played each other before, Gaston is coming off a successful qualifying campaign at Bercy and won’t be a pushover for Rinderknech in his tournament opener.

Gaston Has Picked Up Momentum From His Qualifying Wins at Bercy

At his last event, which coincidentally was the same Challenger tournament where Rinderknech lost in the first round, Gaston fared marginally better, winning his opening clash with Italian Salvatore Caruso before going down fighting in his next to fellow countryman Maxime Janvier.

However, not one to dwell on his defeats, the young Frenchman, ranked just outside the top-100 in singles currently, got his qualifying campaign at the Paris Masters off to a winning start against veteran South African star Kevin Anderson.

Another fine, come-from-behind win over rising Italian star Lorenzo Musetti saw him seal passage to the main tournament draw.

He will start his campaign proper against fellow Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. Though the latter is placed higher in singles currently, Gaston’s qualifying wins will put him in good stead going into Monday’s clash.

Rinderknech v Gaston Prediction and Tip

While Rinderknech will take a slight advantage into Monday’s clash owing to this superior ranking, Gaston’s wins in the qualifiers will have given him just the dose of confidence he needs to push for an upset.
