Holger Rune v Juan Manuel Cerundolo Head to Head

This will be a first meeting between the 18-year-old Rune and the 19-year-old Cerundolo.

Outclassed by top seed Carlos Alcaraz in the first Group match, seventh seed Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune will be looking to get to winning ways on Wednesday.

Rune didn’t even hold a break point in the match against the Spaniard as he went down 4-3, 4-2, 4-0 in an hour and 16 minutes.

The Dane withstood nine aces from Alcaraz and hit just 12 winners to Alcaraz’s 23.

The 109th-ranked Rune was 6-11 on the tour, which included runs to quarterfinals in Santiago and Metz. He was extremely good at the Challenger level, reaching five finals and winning four titles this year. Most recently he won the title in Bergamo in the first week of November, defeating Turkey’s Cem İlkel in the final.

Cerundolo Goes Down to Nakashima

Fifth seed Juan Manuel Cerundolo took a set off fourth seed Brandon Nakashima in the first match, but he too began with a defeat, losing the match in four.

The Argentine saved 7 of 11 break points, but didn’t hold any in the match as he went down 1-4, 4-3, 1-4, 0-4.

Ranked 91st in the world, Cerundolo was 6-3 for the season, winning the Cordoba Open title on his ATP main draw debut.

A clay court specialist, the Argentine has featured in five Challenger finals this year, all on clay, winning three of those titles. The 19-year-old lefty is sitting in third place after the first round of matches in Group A, thanks to a set advantage over Rune.

Rune v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip

While Rune has shown that he can play on hard as well as clay surfaces, Cerundolo is yet to establish himself on hard courts. Expect the Dane to get on the board with a win in the second match of the Group phase on Wednesday.
