Dan Evans v David Goffin Head to Head

Dan Evans surprisingly leads Goffin 2-0 in their head-to-head, defeating the Belgian in an ATP Cup singles rubber in 2020, and most recently at the Monte Carlo Masters last season.

Evans Finds Form Ahead Of Australian Open

Dan Evans will undoubtedly be one of the most dangerous floaters in the men’s draw, provided he can stay consistent in the earlier rounds.

The British No. 2 has what looks like to be a difficult tie on paper as he is paired to meet former World No. 7, David Goffin. But with doubts regarding the Belgian’s fitness, Evans looks poised to advance at a canter.

The 31-year-old Evans will take some beating with the kind of form he is in. Evans was unbeaten in the singles competition at the ATP Cup, but could not prevent Great Britain from a group stage exit.

Evans arrives in Melbourne rippling with confidence and momentum and eyes an even deeper run at the year’s first Grand Slam. Last week he reached the semifinals of the Sydney International before losing to eventual winner Aslan Karatsev.

The 24th-seeded Brit is an impressive 5-1 at the start of the year.

Lackluster Goffin Yet To Hit Peak Form

David Goffin is struggling big time. And it is hard to digest the fact that this could be the start of his decline. At 31, his body is crumbling at a faster rate, and with one injury followed by another, there has not been light at the end of the tunnel.

Goffin spent the majority of the second half of last season addressing a knee concern, ending his 2021 campaign prematurely after the US Open. He had lost six successive matches – one of the worst sequence of results he has had to endure for some time.

Consequently, his ranking has plummeted substantially. He was ranked inside the Top 20 at this time last year, but is now teetering closer to a Top 50 exit.

Goffin’s knee problems have resurfaced at the turn of the year. He looked to be back to his vintage best momentarily when he registered back-to-back wins at the Sydney International. But he would retire mid-match in the quarterfinals against Andy Murray due to the aforementioned injury.

Evans v Goffin Prediction and Tip

Goffin could not promise he will be operating at peak level. His knee has been bothering him for a while now despite taking four months to recuperate. Evans is an overwhelming favorite and rightly so.
