Elena Rybakina v Zarina Diyas Head to Head

World No. 12 Elena Rybakina had a great start to the 2022 season.
She was the runner-up in Adelaide International (losing to Ashleigh Barty in the final) and followed it with a round two appearance in Sydney last week. Rybakina, however, withdrew from that match due to fatigue, but it wasn’t before demolishing the US Open winner Emma Raducanu in the opener with 6-0, 6-1.
The 22-year-old had a decent spell on the tour last year. Even though she didn’t win a singles title or reach a final, Rybakina did enough by making it to the later rounds in the French Open, Wimbledon, Olympics, Eastbourne International, and WTA 500 Chicago.
It is worth noting that the Kazakh has never made it past the third round in the Australian Open. Given that the number 12 seed is in the same bracket as Anett Kontaveit, and on a possible third-round course with Elise Mertens, it may prove to be a bit difficult for her to better her previous results.

Diyas, Starting her Season in Melbourne
It’s going to be hard for Zarina Diyas to carve an upset this early in the competition, especially considering that this will be her first WTA match of the year.
The 28-year-old hasn’t played competitive tennis since October last year when she won the ITF Macon after defeating Madison Brengle in the final. That, however, was her sole highlight of the season with the rest of her performances ending in early-round exits on the tour.
Diyas, however, did reach the third round in the Australian Open and Phillip Island Trophy so there is some history there. That said, she never beat a top 20 player in both those events.
Currently ranked World No. 104, it may be fair to say that Diyas is seriously out of form at the moment.
