Stefano Travaglia v Henri Laaksonen Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between Travaglia and Laaksonen at any level.

Pune Only Shining Light for Travaglia

It has been a fairly forgettable year for Travaglia so far with the 109th-ranked player from Italy consistently flattering to deceive in 2022.

There was a quarterfinal appearance in Pune, sure, but wins over players ranked 180th and 670th in the world were par for the course. In the last-eight round, Travaglia was sent packing by Elias Ymer, another player ranked outside the top 100.

And that’s not the worst part of the season for Travaglia.

He was knocked out in round one at the Melbourne Summer Set 1, lost in the qualifiers of the Sydney International and then in round one there as a lucky loser, fell in the Australian Open opener and did not make past the first round at the Bangalore Challenger either.

Can he shrug off such underwhelming performances and find himself a win?

Laaksonen at Career-High Despite Poor Start

Like his opponent, even Laaksonen hasn’t had a season to remember so far but the good news is the 29-year-old is ranked 85th in the world – his best ever ATP ranking.

Laaksonen, who is coming off a solid previous season, qualified for the Melbourne Summer Set 1 as a lucky loser and then sent Benoit Paire packing from the first round to register his first and only main draw win for the year.

Since then, he has lost four successive matches, qualified for the Rotterdam Open with two qualifying wins and lost in round one there too – to Andrey Rublev.

He now gets a chance to notch up a second win for the year as he faces a player struggling for form himself. Can the Swiss-man improve upon his already, best-ever showing at this tournament?

Travaglia v Laaksonen Prediction and Tip

While there isn’t much to choose between the two as far as form this year goes, Laaksonen is a far better player on hard court surfaces and one will have to tip him to clinch this one.

Tip: Laaksonen to win: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
