Anna Kalinskaya v Xinyu Wang Head to Head

These two players played once before and it came in 2020 at the Australian Open. The Russian Kalinskaya was able to win that match 4-6 7-6(2) 6-2.

Kalinskaya Looking for Wins

Anna Kalinskaya is hovering around the top 100 for a long time now with the Russian yet to find a breakthrough and stay inside the top 100 consistently. It’s a consistency issue for the Russian as she, like many others, struggles to maintain her level and score consecutive victories and multiple events.

She was heavily seen as an underdog in the 1st round matchup against Qinwen Zheng but was able to pull through. Her style is an attacking one but she tends to go on missing spread quite a bit. She has a good serve but can be broken quite easily.

Overall, 2022 has not been too good for her as she won 4 of the 7 matches she played. She did not play many main draw events and this is a rare opportunity for the Russian. She will need to be on top of her game but it seems like the conditions in Mexico suit her playstyle rather well.

Good Start but Slow Continuation for Wang

Xinyu Wang started the season with some solid tennis down under however her level has dropped off since then. In Melbourne, she nearly defeated Aryna Sabalenka for the major upset but faltered as the match went on. Since then it’s been mainly losses for the Chinese player whose consistency is all over the place.

Wang enjoys playing attacking tennis but similar to her opponent it’s the consistency part that has troubled her. Too many times in matches she finds herself committing error after error wasting a pretty good effort. Guadalajara offers her a chance to play the way she likes with the all flying rather well.

She defeated Pana Udvardy in the first round but after taking the first set Wang found herself in another drop of consistency. She lost the 2nd set but rallied to win in the 3rd. If she can’t avoid those things against Kalinskaya it will be tough.

Kalinskaya v Wang Prediction and Tip

Their only previous match was one by Kalinskaya but since then the Chinese player improved herself. Kalinskaya improved as well but not as dramatically as Wang I tend to think that today Wang is the better player. Both have huge consistency issues which makes this extremely tough to call.

I think both will play aggressively and both will attack and the player who does it better will win. I believe both will win a set but I’m really unsure who might win the 3rd one. Both are given equal odds to win this match but it’s moved slightly in favour of Kalinskaya.

I think they are right as the Russian has looked a bit more comfortable in Guadalajara. The over on games seems like the safest player but if I had to pick a winner I would take Kalinskaya.

Tip: Kalinskaya to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
