Sloane Stephens v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between Stephens and Bouzkova. In their only previous meeting, Bouzkova had overcome Stephens in the 2019 Toronto Open.

It was an encounter Stephens had no business of winning and yet, her tenacity and some fortune helped her come through and book her place in the final.
Down a set and 0-3 in the second, Stephens fought back to level the scoreline at 3-3 only to drop serve yet again. The American broke right back and as Kalinskaya served to stay in the set at 5-6, broke the Russian yet again to claim the equalising set.
At that stage, Kalinskaya pulled out of the encounter having battled through back pain throughout the encounter.
Stephens had earlier come back from a set down in her semifinal against Daria Saville as well, while defeating her first two opponents in straight sets. Can she now make it five in five after starting out the year with a first round loss at Australian Open?

Bouzkova Stuns Qiang
It had been exactly 12 months since Bouzkova made it to the final of a WTA tournament and by shocking the favourite Wang Qiang, she entered her third WTA title-decider.
The match lasted an hour and 34 minutes with Bouzkova winning 6-3, 6-3 to make it her third successive straight-set victory in the tournament.
This followed a first round win over Misaki Doi where she was a set down before reeling off eight sets in a row.
Bouzkova faced eight break-points in the encounter and saved all but one of them. In turn, she broke her opponent four times including twice apiece in both the sets. Winning 71% of her first serve points definitely helped Bouzkova and despite committing six double faults, the Czech player managed to cruise into the final.
