Oceane Dodin v Tamara Korpatsch Head to Head
This will be the fourth meeting between these two players, with Korpatsch currently leading the H2H 2-1. Their most recent encounter occurred in 2018 on clay at the Prague Open where Korpatsch was a Lucky Loser and came out on top 6-2 7-5. The last time they played on hard courts was in 2017, where Dodin won 6-2 6-1 in Budapest.

Dodin has had a patchy start to her 2022 season and has yet to consistently string her best tennis together to make a deep run into the later stages of a tournament. On the ITF circuit, Dodin reached the quarter-finals of the W60 Andrezieux-Boutheon losing to Blinkova in the last-8 after defeating Arcangioli and Muntean both in straight-sets in the opening rounds.
On the WTA circuit, reaching the second round of Sydney from qualifying is her best run, and this was only thanks to a Lucky Loser place gifted to her, giving her the opportunity to compete against Olmos, where she won 6-4 6-1, but then losing to Bencic in 3-sets in the following round.
This is Dodin’s only main draw WTA win of the season to date, after suffering opening round defeats in Melbourne (Summer Set 2), Australian Open, and Doha, losing to Ostapenko in straight-sets last week.

Korpatsch Seeking First WTA Main Draw Win of the Season
Korpatsch is competing in her first WTA event of the season after successfully navigating her way through qualifying after Blinkova retired at 5-4 in the first set during Q1, and then defeating In-Albon 7-5 6-3 to secure her spot in the main draw.
Preceding this, Korpatsch has competed in two ITF events, making Lyon just the third tournament of her season. Competing in France, Korpatsch lost in the second round of Andrezieux-Boutheon, defeating Rouvroy in round one and then losing to Djoubri 7-6(1) 6-3. Then, in Grenoble Korpatsch was defeated by Blinkova in 3-sets to be sent packing after round one.
The German knows what it takes to defeat Dodin, however, it will be a much tougher challenge on a hard court. A win for Korpatsch will set up a tie with either Paolini or Irina Bara.
Dodin v Korpatsch Prediction and Tip
An interesting encounter with the German currently leading the H2H, however, both of these wins have come on clay. Whereas, their next encounter will take place on a hard court a more favourable surface for Dodin. This could easily go to 3-sets, but it is likely that Dodin will be victorious and level the H2H with Korpatsch and advance to the next round.
