Bondar Hoping to Improve on Best Ranking

Hungarian number one Bondar has just reached her career high singles ranking, a month after making her Grand Slam debut in singles and doubles at the Australian Open.

That came off the back of a successful 2021 season on the ITF circuit, in which she reached four finals, winning two of them, in Wiesbaden, and Santiago.

The Hungarian rounded of her year by wining her first WTA 125 title on clay in Buenos Aires.

So far, this year her best performance came in the Melbourne Summer Set event, where she came through qualifying to make the second round before losing in three sets to Anastasia Potapova of Russia.

Her last competitive act5ion was in Doha, where she lost in the second round of the qualifying competition.

Mazaraki Makes Main Tour Singles Debut

Mazaraki made her WTA main draw debut last year at the Transylvania Open in the doubles competition.

However, this will be the first time that she has made it to the first round in singles.

She is in good recent form though. She won two ITF singles titles last year and appeared in two more finals, whilst she has featured in six doubles finals at that level in the past 13 months, winning four of them, including earlier this month in Grenoble.

The Japanese player overcame Julia Grabher of Austria, and Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove of the Netherlands to earn her shot against Bondar.

Bomdar v Mazaraki Prediction and Tip

Although Bondar does not have a great deal of experience on the main WTA tour, she still has more than Mazaraki who is making her debut at this level. The Hungarian should progress without too much difficulty.

Tip: Bondar to win: 4/9 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
